Looking for adventure? Need a fantastical escape from reality? Wanting to imagine a different future? Trying to find your people? Northern initiative Transmuted have you covered with Visibility: an RPG magazine from the trans community that makes reading a social activity.
Transmuted is a trans organisation based in the North of England (“currently directed by two absolute eggs”). Now in their third year, they are committed to uplifting underrepresented voices within trans spaces and amplifying perspectives often silenced by society. Their mission is to celebrate and support the trans community, foster mutual understanding, and build solidarity both within the trans community and with the wider world.
This 31 March, Trans Day of Visibility 2025, Transmuted are proud to be presenting a brand new anthology of role-playing games, art and queer fiction. The one-off magazine brings together the expertise of a twenty-five-strong team of all-trans creatives; showcasing a broad range of short stories, stand-alone games, poetry and beautiful works of art, including illustrations by Transmuted founder Dorian Rose.
In a time of growing pressure levelled against the LGBTQIA+ community, Visibility aims to bring the passion and vibrancy of trans culture to the world. “It’s our hope that Visibility helps to empower queer readers and fights back against that pressure,” says Rose. ‘Visibility’ is as complex a term as you can find – especially to the trans community, for whom 31 March marks Transgender Day of Visibility every year. The day itself means lots of different things to lots of different trans folks, and in particular ‘visibility’ is something that should be owned by each individual for themselves. With Visibility Magazine we celebrate owning our ‘visibility’ through creative joy, games, and euphoria!” Moreover, profits from Visibility have been pledged to a small group of charities: Mermaids, Black Trans Foundation, Transgender Legal Defense Fund, Rainbow Railroad, and Trans Lifeline. So, more than simply providing a platform for trans work, the magazine is also an invitation to build community and an active work of solidarity.
“Read, come together, and share the love!”
